Are you using IG Stories to grow your studio?

Sep 17, 2021

If you're anything like me, talking to a camera is probably the LAST THING you want to do. Even as someone who grew up performing on stages like it was nothing, when it comes to being on camera, I HATE it.

Unfortunately, in today's world of digital content marketing, creating video content and being on camera is a necessary evil in growing your business.

A few months ago, Instagram came out with an announcement that they are a video content platform, no longer prioritizing pictures and graphics, but pushing creators to utilize their multiple forms of video. This means they are also pushing that video content out to more followers, resulting in more views/impressions.

What does that mean for you? Well, you need to get in front of the camera!

This week, I discussed the benefits of getting on Instagram Stories and the number one thing I want you to understand is that IG Stories are NOT USED for growing your audience. IG Stories are used for building relationships with the audience you already have.

What do I mean by that?

Well, it has been explained that hashtags do not do much (if anything) in terms of making your IG stories searchable by non-followers. So for that reason, there are very few chances that anyone who is not already following you would find you via your IG Stories.

This means you need to utilize the IG Story function to build your relationships, show off your business personality, and close the sale with those that already follow you.

So, how do you do that?

This is the part where you have to actually get on camera and talk. You need to show up on IG Stories consistently, every day. It is recommended that you share, at minimum, 4-6 video stories daily. (That does not mean sharing your IG feed posts to your stories, actual video stories.)

Think of IG Stories as a behind-the-scenes look at the inner workings of your studio and your studio's personality. Show off the things that make you unique. Feature events, people, and classes that would make a follower jump at a chance to join in on the fun.

The fun thing about IG Stories is that it can get very interactive by sharing polls, quizzing viewers, asking questions, and more. This gets followers involved and also can give you insight into your followers' interests and behaviors.

MY CHALLENGE TO YOU this next week, get on IG Stories for 1 minute every day and talk to your audience. Go out there and grow your relationships with your audience.
